SUBSTANCES

Perhaps, at first, it was a relief.

It helped reduce pain, relieve stress, and ease anxiety or worry about a particular subject.

.....and now we need it to feel normal.

Sometimes, you try once, and then you fall back, and then you try again another time,

and then you fall back,

and finally, you end up getting out of it, but you can do it under certain conditions.

No situation is too far gone or destructive that God cannot deliver us from it

and allow us to have a satisfying life!

  • Are you struggling with an addiction to a substance and are unable to break free?

  • Do you feel more and more lonely, crushed in a prison of shame and guilt?

  • Are you suffering from the deterioration of your relationships because of this monster in your life?

  • Are you seeking help without knowing where to turn for fear of being judged?

  • Do you simply want to understand what is going on in the life of someone close to you?

It is not an addiction; it is just to relax!

At first, it was a relief. It reduced pain, it reduced stress, it reduced anxiety, it reduced worry about something. But, little by little, it settled in until it took over your life. And now you need it to feel normal.

It will be strong, too strong, stronger than you are!

Like the frog when you try to cook it! You do not throw it into boiling water but put it into cold water and then very slowly turn the heat on. It will heat up but not realize it is trapped in the pot.

Technically, the frog has the ability, in its muscles, to get out, to escape. But it gets used to the environment. It is even comfortable! It needs it, but it is a trap closing in on it.

There is life after addiction!

This is important news. There is life after addiction!

We have many examples of young men and women, older and younger, who have struggled with substance addictions and who chose one day to say, "I can't help it. I need help, I want to get out of this" and who managed to turn the page and build a new life.

With God's help and by understanding the mechanisms behind this process, you can regain control of your life and escape this downward spiral.

Cheers! Really?

Unable to live with this constant pain and doubt, he needed to find ways to soothe it, ways to anesthetize, ways to comfort this wound inside him.

He found alcohol, a substance that creates a euphoric state, disconnecting him from reality, numbing the pain inside, and numbing his emotions. Alcohol soothed him for a while... and then it replaced his own willpower.

Drugs, what are we talking about?

In official discourse, we often hear that there are soft drugs and hard drugs. We would like to challenge this definition, which misrepresents the problem. Medically speaking, it is not true! There are slow drugs and violent drugs.

So-called "soft" drugs are not soft at all. They work differently! It may take weeks, months, or years for the consequences to become visible on a psychological, emotional, and physical level, but they are always visible!

The difference has been known for a very long time, in fact. In ancient times, slow-acting drugs, which today are considered mild, were classified as more dangerous because they impaired the ability to make quick decisions and created contagions of fear, desertion, etc., among soldiers...

Yes, but the doctor prescribed it for me!

Sometimes, we have pain that even doctors cannot explain, cure, or find the root cause, and painkillers provide real physical and moral relief.

When your body is in constant pain, you cannot function, you cannot work, you cannot have normal relationships.

She returned to the doctor and said, "Can I have a little more of this? I am in pain.

And then, little by little, dependence sets in as the medication takes effect and calms the pain. But when the body gets used to it, the strength of the drug has to be turned up a notch. And then the doses increase, and you take more than the doctor prescribed, shorten waiting times, and then ...

A Path to Healing

We will work with you to understand the mechanisms of the different forms of addiction so that you can break free from them. We put words to what ails you!

We start by recognizing the problem. If we acknowledge our addiction problem, 50% of the healing work has already been done!

Look to the victories instead of the relapses so that, little by little, a virtuous mechanism takes hold. Say to yourself, "I'm getting there!"

Do not let your pride say you do not need it!

Drugs create shame and guilt and make us believe that we can no longer turn to God. Guilt offers no solution. It makes you feel as though you are the worst person in the world, that you will never make it, that you are worthless, and that there is no solution to your problem!

There is always a hand outstretched for us from Jesus Christ, from the Holy Spirit.

No situation is too far gone or destructive that God cannot deliver us from it, lift us up, put us back on our feet, and enable us to have a life that once again satisfies us and those around us.
